Baminercept
Baminercept is a recombinant fusion protein that acts as a lymphotoxin-beta receptor (LTβR) decoy. It is designed to modulate the immune system by interfering with the lymphotoxin pathway, which plays a crucial role in the development and organization of lymphoid tissues and the regulation of immune responses.
Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]
Baminercept functions by binding to lymphotoxin-alpha (LTα) and lymphotoxin-beta (LTβ), preventing them from interacting with their natural receptor, the lymphotoxin-beta receptor (LTβR). This inhibition disrupts the signaling pathways that are involved in the maintenance of secondary lymphoid organs and the regulation of immune responses. By acting as a decoy receptor, baminercept can modulate immune responses, potentially reducing inflammation and altering the progression of autoimmune diseases.

Baminercept has been investigated for its potential use in treating autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and Sjögren's syndrome.
