Basmath
Basmath is a town and a municipal council in the Hingoli district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is also known as Basmathnagar. The town is known for its historical significance and cultural heritage.

Basmath is located at coordinates 19.3167° N, 77.1667° E. It has an average elevation of 456 meters (1,496 feet) above sea level. The town is situated on the banks of the Penganga River, which is a tributary of the Godavari River.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As per the 2011 Census of India, Basmath had a population of approximately 65,000. The literacy rate is around 75%, with male literacy at 82% and female literacy at 68%. The official language is Marathi, but Hindi and Urdu are also widely spoken.

The economy of Basmath is primarily based on agriculture. The main crops grown in the region include cotton, soybean, sorghum, and pulses. The town also has a number of small-scale industries, including textile manufacturing and food processing.
