Black Mafia Family

The Black Mafia Family (BMF) is a drug trafficking and money laundering organization in the United States. The organization was founded in the late 1980s by brothers Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory in Detroit, Michigan. BMF established cocaine distribution sales throughout the United States by 2000 and had direct links to Mexican drug cartels.

History[edit | edit source]

The Black Mafia Family was founded in the late 1980s in Detroit, Michigan. The Flenory brothers started their operation by selling cocaine on the streets of Detroit. By the early 2000s, BMF had established a multi-million dollar drug trafficking empire with operations in numerous states, including California, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas.

Operations[edit | edit source]

BMF operated primarily by distributing cocaine and laundering money through legitimate businesses. The organization used a sophisticated network of couriers, stash houses, and front companies to move and conceal their activities. They were known for their lavish lifestyle, which included luxury cars, expensive jewelry, and high-profile parties.

Legal Issues[edit | edit source]

In 2005, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) launched an investigation into BMF, leading to the arrest of the Flenory brothers and several other key members. The investigation revealed that BMF had been responsible for distributing thousands of kilograms of cocaine across the United States. Both Demetrius and Terry Flenory were sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.

Cultural Impact[edit | edit source]

BMF has had a significant impact on popular culture, particularly in the hip hop community. Several artists, including Young Jeezy, have been associated with the organization. The story of BMF has been the subject of numerous documentaries, books, and a television series produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
