Bruce L. Gewertz
Bruce L. Gewertz is an American vascular surgeon and academic administrator. He is known for his contributions to the field of vascular surgery and his leadership roles in various medical institutions.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Bruce L. Gewertz was born in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his undergraduate education at Princeton University, where he earned a degree in Biology. He then attended the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he received his M.D. degree.
Career[edit | edit source]
After completing his medical degree, Gewertz pursued a residency in general surgery at the University of Michigan. He then completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
Academic and Clinical Positions[edit | edit source]
Gewertz has held several prominent positions throughout his career. He served as the Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Chicago from 1992 to 2006. In 2006, he was appointed as the Surgeon-in-Chief and Chair of the Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
