Calumet County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 52,542. Its county seat is Chilton. The county was created in 1836 and organized in 1850.

Geography[edit | edit source]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 397 square miles (1,030 km²), of which 318 square miles (820 km²) is land and 79 square miles (200 km²) (20%) is water. The county is located in the eastern part of the state, along the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago.

As of the 2020 census, there were 52,542 people, 20,203 households, and 14,512 families residing in the county. The population density was 165 people per square mile (64/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 94.8% White, 0.5% Black or African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.2% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. 3.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Calumet County is served by several school districts, including the Chilton School District, Brillion School District, and New Holstein School District. Higher education is available at nearby institutions such as University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley and Fox Valley Technical College.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

Major highways in Calumet County include U.S. Route 10, Wisconsin Highway 32, and Wisconsin Highway 57. The county is also served by the Appleton International Airport located in nearby Outagamie County.

Parks and Recreation[edit | edit source]

Calumet County offers various parks and recreational activities, including High Cliff State Park located on the northeast shore of Lake Winnebago. The park provides opportunities for hiking, camping, and fishing.
