Camas
Camas is a city located in Clark County, Washington, United States. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area and is situated on the north bank of the Columbia River. The city is known for its rich history, vibrant community, and scenic beauty.

Camas was officially incorporated on June 18, 1906. The city was named after the Camas lily (Camassia), a plant with an edible bulb that was a staple food for Native American tribes in the region. The area was originally inhabited by the Chinookan peoples. The city's development was significantly influenced by the establishment of the Camas paper mill in 1883 by L. W. Ayer. The mill became the primary employer in the area and played a crucial role in the city's growth and economic development.

Camas is located at the coordinates 45°35′51″N 122°24′38″W. The city covers a total area of 15.25 square miles, of which 13.49 square miles is land and 1.76 square miles is water. The city is characterized by its rolling hills, forested areas, and proximity to the Columbia River.

As of the 2020 census, the population of Camas was 26,065. The city has experienced significant growth over the past few decades, attracting residents with its high quality of life, excellent schools, and strong sense of community.

The economy of Camas has historically been centered around the paper mill, which is now operated by Georgia-Pacific.
