Chhena Kheeri is a traditional Indian dessert, originating from the Oriya region. It is a type of kheer made with chhena, a fresh, unripened cheese common in Indian cuisine.

Chhena Kheeri is made by combining chhena, milk, sugar, and various spices. The chhena is first soaked in water to remove any excess whey, then mixed with the milk and sugar in a large pot. The mixture is slowly heated until it thickens into a creamy consistency. Spices such as cardamom and saffron are often added for flavor, and the dish is typically garnished with chopped nuts or dried fruits before serving.

Chhena Kheeri is often prepared during festivals and special occasions in Odisha. It is particularly popular during the Rath Yatra, a major Hindu festival celebrated in the region. The dish is also commonly offered as prasad at temples.

While the basic recipe for Chhena Kheeri remains the same, there are several regional variations. Some versions may include additional ingredients such as rose water, pistachios, or almonds. In some parts of Odisha, the dish is flavored with jaggery instead of sugar.
