- Cockrell Hill was incorporated in 1956 and has a rich history that dates back to the 1840s. The city was named after the Cockrell family who settled in the area.

- Cockrell Hill is located at 32°44′23″N 96°54′26″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.58 square miles, all of it land.
