List of cities in Texas
List of cities in Texas is a comprehensive catalog of the municipalities in the U.S. state of Texas. Texas, the second largest state in the United States by both area and population, is home to numerous cities of varying sizes and characteristics.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Texas is divided into 254 counties, the largest number of counties of any state. Each city in Texas is either "home rule" or "general law"; home rule cities, which are over 5,000 in population, have a charter and can set their own ordinances, while general law cities, under 5,000 in population, are limited to governmental structures and powers specifically granted by state law.
