List of U.S. states by date of admission to the Union
List of U.S. states by date of admission to the Union presents the order in which the United States' states joined the Union. The United States Constitution was ratified in 1788, and the new Union came into effect on March 4, 1789, with the first Congress. Since then, 37 additional states have been admitted into the United States, totaling 50 states. This list includes the dates of admission and the order in which the states joined.
