Compulsion Games
Compulsion Games is a Canadian video game development company based in Montreal, Quebec. The company is known for creating narrative-driven games with unique artistic styles and immersive storytelling.

Compulsion Games was founded in 2009 by Guillaume Provost, a former employee of Arkane Studios and Ubisoft. The studio initially focused on developing smaller, independent games before gaining recognition for their distinctive approach to game design.

Contrast[edit | edit source]
Contrast is the first game developed by Compulsion Games, released in 2013. The game is set in a noir-inspired world and features a unique gameplay mechanic that allows players to shift between a 3D world and a 2D shadow world. Contrast received praise for its innovative design and artistic direction.
We Happy Few[edit | edit source]
We Happy Few is the second major title from Compulsion Games, released in 2018. The game is set in a dystopian alternate history of 1960s England, where citizens are forced to take a drug called "Joy" to suppress negative emotions. The game combines elements of survival, stealth, and narrative-driven gameplay. We Happy Few was noted for its dark, satirical tone and complex world-building.
Acquisition by Microsoft[edit | edit source]
In 2018, Compulsion Games was acquired by Microsoft and became part of Xbox Game Studios. This acquisition provided the studio with additional resources and support to develop new projects and expand their creative vision.
Future Projects[edit | edit source]
As of now, Compulsion Games is working on new, unannounced projects under the umbrella of Xbox Game Studios. The studio continues to focus on creating unique, story-driven experiences for players.
