D. Sudhaker Rao

D. Sudhaker Rao is a renowned endocrinologist and medical researcher known for his significant contributions to the field of bone health and metabolic bone disease. He currently serves as the Director of the Bone and Mineral Metabolism and the Bone Histomorphometry Laboratory at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan.

Rao was born and raised in India. He completed his medical education at the Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, before moving to the United States for further training. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Wayne State University and his fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Mayo Clinic.

Rao has been with the Henry Ford Health System since 1982. He has held several leadership positions within the organization, including the Medical Director of the Osteoporosis Center. His research primarily focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of metabolic bone diseases, particularly osteoporosis and Paget's disease of bone.

Rao has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious medical journals. He is also a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on bone health and metabolic bone diseases.

Rao has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of endocrinology. He was awarded the prestigious Frederic C. Bartter Award by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research in 2009. This award is given to clinical scientists who have made outstanding contributions in the field of bone and mineral metabolism.
