DR-4485
DR-4485 is a Disaster Recovery (DR) declaration number assigned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to specific disasters in the United States. Each DR number represents a unique disaster event, allowing FEMA and other agencies to track and manage recovery efforts.
Overview[edit | edit source]
DR-4485 refers to the disaster declaration made by FEMA in response to the severe storms and flooding that occurred in South Carolina in February 2020. The declaration was made on April 13, 2020, by the President of the United States, following a review of the Damage Assessment report submitted by FEMA.
Disaster Details[edit | edit source]
The severe storms and flooding began on February 6, 2020, and continued through February 13, 2020. The disaster affected several counties in South Carolina, including Aiken County, Barnwell County, Berkeley County, Colleton County, Hampton County, Jasper County, Oconee County, and Pickens County.
The disaster caused significant damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure, leading to the displacement of residents and disruption of local economies. The declaration of DR-4485 enabled the release of federal funds to assist in the recovery efforts.
Recovery Efforts[edit | edit source]
Following the declaration of DR-4485, FEMA, in coordination with the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD), initiated a range of recovery programs. These included Public Assistance (PA) programs, Individual Assistance (IA) programs, and Hazard Mitigation (HM) programs.
Public Assistance programs provide funds to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, as well as certain private non-profit organizations, to assist with the response, recovery, and rebuilding efforts. Individual Assistance programs provide financial and direct services to eligible individuals and households affected by the disaster. Hazard Mitigation programs provide funding for projects that aim to reduce the impact of future disasters.
