Divers Institute of Technology

Divers Institute of Technology (DIT) is a private, post-secondary school located in Seattle, Washington, United States. The institute specializes in commercial diving and underwater welding education, offering a seven-month program that provides the training necessary for students to enter the commercial diving industry.

History

Divers Institute of Technology was founded in 1968 by John Manley, a former United States Navy diver. The school was initially located in Los Angeles, California, but moved to its current location in Seattle in 2003. The move was prompted by the desire to provide students with a more challenging training environment, as the waters of the Puget Sound are colder and have stronger currents than those in California.

Programs

Divers Institute of Technology offers a seven-month program that combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on training. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including underwater welding, underwater cutting, hyperbaric chamber operations, and scuba diving techniques. Students also receive training in emergency medical procedures and hazardous materials handling.
