Don Beaven (31 August 1924 – 4 November 2009) was a prominent New Zealand medical researcher and diabetes specialist. He made significant contributions to the understanding and treatment of diabetes, particularly in the context of Māori and Pacific Islander populations.

Don Beaven was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. He attended Christchurch Boys' High School and later studied medicine at the University of Otago, where he graduated with a MB ChB degree. He furthered his studies in the United Kingdom, specializing in diabetes and endocrinology.
