  • Fibrinolytic Agents  (57) • Fibrinolysin or agents that convert plasminogen to FIBRINOLYSIN.
  • Filaricides  (8) • Pharmacological agents destructive to nematodes in the superfamily Filarioidea.


  • Fixatives  (9) • Agents employed in the preparation of histologic or pathologic specimens for the purpose of maintaining the existing form and structure of all of the constituent elements. Great numbers of different agents are used; some are also decalcifying and hardening agents. They must quickly kill and coagulate living tissue.
  • Flame Retardants  (4) • Materials applied to fabrics, bedding, furniture, plastics, etc. to retard their burning; many may leach out and cause allergies or other harm.
  • Flavoring Agents  (26) • Substances added to foods and medicine to improve the quality of taste.

  • Food Coloring Agents  (6) • Natural or synthetic dyes used as coloring agents in processed foods.
  • Food Preservatives  (10) • Substances capable of inhibiting, retarding or arresting the process of fermentation, acidification or other deterioration of foods.
  • Free Radical Scavengers  (29) • Substances that influence the course of a chemical reaction by ready combination with free radicals. Among other effects, this combining activity protects pancreatic islets against damage by cytokines and prevents myocardial and pulmonary perfusion injuries.


  • Fungicides, Industrial  (75) • Chemicals that kill or inhibit the growth of fungi in agricultural applications, on wood, plastics, or other materials, in swimming pools, etc.
