Edgefield County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, its population was 25,657. The county seat and largest city is Edgefield. The county was established in 1785.

Edgefield County was formed in 1785 as part of the Ninety-Six District. It was named for the village of Edgefield, which was established in 1785. The county has a rich history, including its role in the American Revolutionary War and its significance in the Antebellum South.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 507 square miles (1,310 km²), of which 502 square miles (1,300 km²) is land and 5.2 square miles (13 km²) (1.0%) is water.

Edgefield County is governed by a council-administrator form of government. The county council consists of five members elected from single-member districts.
