Emily Quartermaine is a fictional character from the American soap opera General Hospital. She was portrayed by actress Natalia Livingston from 2003 to 2008, with a brief return in 2009. Emily is a member of the prominent Quartermaine family, a central family in the series.
Character History[edit | edit source]
Emily Quartermaine was introduced to General Hospital as the daughter of Page Bowen, a friend of Monica Quartermaine. After Page's death from breast cancer, Monica and her husband, Alan Quartermaine, adopted Emily, integrating her into the Quartermaine family.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Emily's early years in Port Charles were marked by her struggle to fit into the wealthy and often tumultuous Quartermaine family. Despite these challenges, she formed close bonds with her adoptive family, particularly with her brother, Jason Morgan.
Medical Career[edit | edit source]
Emily pursued a career in medicine, inspired by her adoptive parents, both of whom were doctors. She attended medical school and became a physician, working at General Hospital. Her dedication to her career was a significant aspect of her character development.
Romantic Relationships[edit | edit source]
Emily's most notable romantic relationship was with Nikolas Cassadine, a member of the Cassadine family. Their relationship was a central storyline, filled with numerous challenges, including family feuds and external threats. Emily and Nikolas married in 2004, but their happiness was short-lived due to various dramatic events.
Death[edit | edit source]
Emily Quartermaine's life came to a tragic end in 2007 when she was murdered by Diego Alcazar, a serial killer known as the "Text Message Killer." Her death had a profound impact on the residents of Port Charles, particularly her family and Nikolas.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Emily's legacy continued to influence storylines on General Hospital even after her death. Her memory was honored by her family and friends, and her spirit occasionally appeared to characters, offering guidance and support.
