The presence of the fluorine atom in fluorotabun gives it unique properties compared to other nerve gases. The symptoms of fluorotabun poisoning are similar to those of other nerve gases and include difficulty breathing, convulsions, and loss of consciousness. Treatment involves the administration of antidotes that can reactivate acetylcholinesterase, as well as supportive measures to manage the symptoms.

Legal status[edit]

The production, possession, and use of fluorotabun are prohibited by the Chemical Weapons Convention, which classifies it as a Schedule 1 substance. This means it is considered to have no legitimate uses outside of research, medical, or pharmaceutical purposes.
