Fluperolone
Fluperolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid and dermatologic drug that is marketed in France. It is used in the form of a cream for the treatment of various skin disorders.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Fluperolone, like other glucocorticoids, acts by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, a type of nuclear receptor that is activated by ligand binding. Once activated, the receptor-ligand complex translocates to the cell nucleus, where it regulates the expression of genes.
Medical uses[edit | edit source]
Fluperolone is used in the treatment of various skin disorders, including eczema, psoriasis, and contact dermatitis. It is applied topically in the form of a cream.
Side effects[edit | edit source]
As with other topical corticosteroids, side effects of fluperolone can include skin thinning, bruising, and acne. More serious side effects can occur if the drug is absorbed into the bloodstream, such as Cushing's syndrome and adrenal suppression.
