Gevrey-Chambertin is a commune in the Côte-d'Or department in eastern France. It is renowned for its production of Burgundy wine, particularly red wines made from the Pinot noir grape. The village is located in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and is part of the Côte de Nuits subregion of the Burgundy wine region.

The history of Gevrey-Chambertin dates back to the Roman era, with evidence of viticulture in the area for centuries. The village was originally known as "Gevrey" but was renamed "Gevrey-Chambertin" in 1847 to reflect the importance of its most famous vineyard, Chambertin.

Gevrey-Chambertin is situated on the eastern slopes of the Côte d'Or escarpment, which provides an ideal terroir for growing Pinot noir. The vineyards are located at altitudes ranging from 240 to 280 meters above sea level, with a mix of limestone and clay soils that contribute to the complexity of the wines.
