Glossary of Manias

The following is a list of terms ending in -mania used in the field of psychiatry to describe various mental health conditions. The suffix -mania denotes an abnormal and persistent obsession with different types of behaviors and experiences.

Ablutomania - An obsession with cleaning or washing.

Aeromania - An obsession with fresh air or high altitudes.

Agromania - An obsession with open spaces.

Bibliomania - An obsession with the collection or possession of books.

Bruxomania - An obsession with grinding one's teeth.

Claustromania - An obsession with confined spaces, the opposite of claustrophobia.

Cleptomania - An obsession with stealing things.

Dipsomania - An obsession with drinking alcohol.

Doromania - An obsession with giving gifts.

Egomania - An obsession with oneself, also known as narcissism.

Ergomania - An obsession with work or being productive.

Graphomania - An obsession with writing or drawing.

Heliomania - An obsession with the sun or sunlight.

Hypomania - A mild form of mania, marked by elation and hyperactivity.

Ideomania - An obsession with ideas or thoughts.

Infomania - An obsession with collecting, classifying, or reading information.

Judeomania - An obsession with Jewish culture or Jews.

Kleptomania - An obsession with stealing.

Logomania - An obsession with words.

Mania - A mental health disorder characterized by persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood.

Megamania - A delusional state where one believes they have great power, wealth, or importance.

Necromania - An obsession with death or dead bodies.

Oniomania - An obsession with shopping or buying.

Phagomania - An obsession with eating.

Pyromania - An obsession with fire.

Rhytiphobia - An obsession with getting wrinkles.

Sophomania - A delusion of having superior intelligence.

Uranomania - An obsession with the idea of divinity.

Wahnmannie - An obsession with insanity.

Xenomania - An obsession with foreign things.

Yaoimania - An obsession with Yaoi.
