Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Schlickeysen was born in Germany in 1834. He studied medicine at the University of Berlin, where he developed an interest in the relationship between diet and health. After completing his medical degree, he continued his studies in the field of dietetics.
Career[edit | edit source]

He conducted extensive research on the nutritional value of different foods and the impact of diet on health. His work was groundbreaking at the time and laid the foundation for the modern field of dietetics.
In 1875, Schlickeysen published his most famous work, The Food Pyramid. This was the first known attempt to visually represent the proportions of different food groups that should be included in a healthy diet. The food pyramid has since been adapted and modified by numerous health organizations around the world.
