Imperial College School Of Medicine
Imperial College School of Medicine (ICSM) is the medical school of Imperial College London in England, and one of the United Hospitals. It was formed by the merger of several historic medical schools, and has core campuses at South Kensington, Charing Cross, Hammersmith, St Mary's, Royal Brompton, Chelsea and Westminster, St Charles' and Northwick Park.

The Imperial College School of Medicine was formed in 1997 through the merger of several historic medical schools. The oldest of these was the Westminster Hospital Medical School, which traces its roots back to 1834. Other constituent schools were the Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and the National Heart and Lung Institute.
Education[edit | edit source]
The school provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes. The undergraduate medicine programme is a six-year course, leading to the award of a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The school also offers a number of postgraduate master's programmes, including a Master's in Public Health (MPH).
Research[edit | edit source]
Research at the Imperial College School of Medicine is structured around five main themes: cancer, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, infection and immunity, and neuroscience. The school is associated with a number of major research centres, including the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre, the Institute of Clinical Sciences, and the National Heart and Lung Institute.
Notable alumni[edit | edit source]
The Imperial College School of Medicine has produced a number of notable alumni, including Sir Magdi Yacoub, a pioneering heart surgeon, and Lord Darzi, a leading figure in the field of minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery.
