Island County, Washington
Island County, Washington is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 85,141. The county seat is Coupeville, while the largest city is Oak Harbor. Island County consists of two large islands, Whidbey Island and Camano Island, along with numerous smaller islands. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area, which provides significant economic, cultural, and social interactions for its residents.

Island County was created on January 6, 1853, by the Oregon Territorial Legislature from a portion of Thurston County and was named for the myriad of islands in Puget Sound. Over the years, its boundaries have changed, with parts being split off to form other counties.
