JWH-030

From WikiMD's Wellnesspedia

JWH-030 is a synthetic cannabinoid from the naphthoylindole family, which acts as a partial agonist at both the CB1 and CB2 receptors. It is one of hundreds of synthetic cannabinoids that have been discovered since the 1990s.

History[edit | edit source]

JWH-030 was first synthesized by John W. Huffman, an organic chemist at Clemson University. Huffman and his team were researching the structure-activity relationship of cannabinoids, and JWH-030 was one of many compounds they created. The "JWH" in its name stands for "John W. Huffman".

Structure and Properties[edit | edit source]

JWH-030 is a naphthoylindole, meaning it has a naphthoyl group attached to an indole core. This is a common structure among synthetic cannabinoids. It is a partial agonist at both the CB1 and CB2 receptors, with a slight preference for CB2.

Effects[edit | edit source]

As a synthetic cannabinoid, JWH-030 can produce effects similar to those of cannabis, including relaxation, altered perception, and euphoria. However, it can also have negative effects such as anxiety, paranoia, and in some cases, hallucinations.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of JWH-030 varies by country. In many places, it is considered a controlled substance due to its potential for abuse and the health risks associated with its use.
