Janssen Biotech
Janssen Biotech is a biopharmaceutical company that is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. It was originally established as Centocor in 1979 and later acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 1999. The company was renamed Janssen Biotech in 2011.

Centocor was founded in 1979 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a focus on monoclonal antibody technology. The company's early success was marked by the development of diagnostic assays using monoclonal antibodies. In the 1990s, Centocor transitioned into therapeutic applications of monoclonal antibodies, with a focus on cardiovascular disease, inflammatory disease, and cancer.
In 1999, Centocor was acquired by Johnson & Johnson, a multinational corporation specializing in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer packaged goods. The acquisition was part of Johnson & Johnson's strategy to strengthen its position in the biopharmaceutical market.
In 2011, Centocor Ortho Biotech was renamed Janssen Biotech, as part of a global effort to unite all of Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceutical companies under the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson brand.
Products and Research[edit | edit source]
Janssen Biotech's product portfolio includes treatments for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Crohn's disease, and cancer. Some of its notable products include Remicade (infliximab), Stelara (ustekinumab), and Simponi (golimumab).
The company is also involved in the research and development of new therapeutic solutions. Its research areas include immunology, oncology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
