Johanne Martel-Pelletier

Martel-Pelletier was born and raised in Quebec, Canada. She completed her undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Quebec, before pursuing a PhD in Immunology at the University of Montreal.

Following her PhD, Martel-Pelletier undertook a postdoctoral fellowship in rheumatology at the University of California, San Francisco. She then returned to Canada, where she joined the University of Montreal Hospital Research Centre (CRCHUM) as a researcher.
At CRCHUM, Martel-Pelletier has led numerous studies on the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis, with a particular focus on the role of inflammation and cartilage degradation. Her research has significantly contributed to the understanding of osteoarthritis and has paved the way for the development of new therapeutic strategies.
In addition to her research, Martel-Pelletier is also a professor at the University of Montreal, where she teaches rheumatology and immunology.
