JKUAT traces its origins to the early 1970s when the Kenyan government, in collaboration with the Japanese government, established a technical assistance program aimed at providing training and research in agriculture and engineering. This led to the foundation of the Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology (JKCAT) in 1981, named after Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first President. It was later elevated to university status in 1994, becoming the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

These include the Nairobi CBD Campus, Karen Campus, and the Westlands Campus, among others. The university boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including modern laboratories, libraries, and computer centers, to support its teaching and research activities.

The university's focus on practical skills and entrepreneurship has equipped its graduates with the necessary tools to excel in the competitive job market.
Challenges and Future Directions[edit | edit source]
