Justin Randall Timberlake (born January 31, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He is one of the world's best-selling music artists, with sales of over 88 million records. Timberlake is the recipient of numerous awards, including ten Grammy Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, three Brit Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Timberlake was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Lynn (Bomar) Harless and Charles Randall Timberlake. He grew up in Shelby Forest and was raised as a Baptist. Timberlake's first attempts at a music career were through the television shows Star Search and The All-New Mickey Mouse Club.

Career[edit | edit source]

1995–2002: NSYNC[edit | edit source]

In 1995, Timberlake became a member of the boy band NSYNC, which was formed by Lou Pearlman. The group became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1997 and was followed by the successful albums No Strings Attached (2000) and Celebrity (2001).

2002–2004: Solo debut with Justified[edit | edit source]

Timberlake released his debut solo album, Justified, in 2002. The album included the hit singles "Cry Me a River" and "Rock Your Body". Justified earned Timberlake his first two Grammy Awards.

2004–2007: Acting and FutureSex/LoveSounds[edit | edit source]

Timberlake took a break from music to focus on his acting career, appearing in films such as Edison (2005) and Alpha Dog (2006). He returned to music with his second studio album, FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album produced the hit singles "SexyBack", "My Love", and "What Goes Around... Comes Around".

2008–2012: Continued acting and musical hiatus[edit | edit source]

During this period, Timberlake focused on his acting career, starring in films such as The Social Network (2010), Bad Teacher (2011), and Friends with Benefits (2011). He also made guest appearances on Saturday Night Live and collaborated with other artists.

2013–2017: The 20/20 Experience and Man of the Woods[edit | edit source]

Timberlake returned to music with the release of The 20/20 Experience in 2013, which became the best-selling album of the year in the United States. He followed it with The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 later that year. In 2018, Timberlake released his fifth studio album, Man of the Woods.

2018–present: Continued work and upcoming projects[edit | edit source]

Timberlake continues to work on various music and film projects. He has been involved in the production of several films and has hinted at new music releases.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Timberlake married actress Jessica Biel in 2012. The couple has two sons. Timberlake is known for his philanthropy and has supported various charitable causes throughout his career.
