Kelly Gallagher (born 18 May 1985) is a British alpine skier and Paralympic gold medalist. She competes in the visually impaired category and has represented Great Britain in multiple Winter Paralympic Games.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Kelly Gallagher was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She was born with oculocutaneous albinism, a condition that affects her vision. Despite her visual impairment, Gallagher developed a passion for skiing at a young age.

Skiing Career[edit | edit source]

Gallagher began her competitive skiing career in 2010. She quickly made a name for herself in the sport, competing in various international competitions. Her breakthrough came at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia, where she won the gold medal in the Super-G event. This victory marked the first-ever gold medal for Great Britain at the Winter Paralympics.

2010 Winter Paralympics[edit | edit source]

Gallagher made her Paralympic debut at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada. Although she did not win any medals, her performance was commendable and set the stage for future successes.

2014 Winter Paralympics[edit | edit source]

At the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Gallagher, along with her guide Charlotte Evans, won the gold medal in the Super-G event. This historic win was a significant milestone for British Paralympic skiing.

2018 Winter Paralympics[edit | edit source]

Gallagher also competed in the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She participated in multiple events but did not secure a podium finish.

Outside of skiing, Gallagher is an advocate for disability sports and works to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in various athletic activities. She is also involved in various charitable organizations and initiatives aimed at supporting visually impaired individuals.
