Khulna (Bengali: খুলনা) is the third-largest city in Bangladesh and the administrative seat of Khulna Division. It is located in the southern part of the country, on the banks of the Rupsha River. Khulna is a major industrial and commercial hub, known for its jute, textile, and seafood processing industries.

Khulna has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. The region was part of the Bengal Sultanate and later the Mughal Empire. During the British colonial period, Khulna became an important administrative and commercial center. The city was officially established in 1884.

Khulna is situated in the southwestern part of Bangladesh, with a tropical climate characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters. The city is located near the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
