Ko Wing-man
Ko Wing-man (born 1957) is a Hong Kong physician and politician. He served as the Secretary for Food and Health of Hong Kong from 2012 to 2017. Ko is known for his contributions to the healthcare system in Hong Kong and his efforts in public health policy.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Ko Wing-man was born in Hong Kong in 1957. He attended Queen's College, Hong Kong for his secondary education. Ko later pursued his medical degree at the University of Hong Kong, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
Medical Career[edit | edit source]
After completing his medical degree, Ko began his career as a physician. He specialized in orthopedics and worked at various hospitals in Hong Kong. Ko also held several academic positions, including a lecturer role at the University of Hong Kong.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Ko Wing-man entered the political arena when he was appointed as the Under Secretary for Food and Health in 2008. He served in this capacity until 2012, when he was promoted to the position of Secretary for Food and Health. During his tenure, Ko focused on improving the public healthcare system, addressing issues such as the aging population, and managing public health crises.
