Leo Poon
Leo Poon is a virologist and a professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong. He is known for his research on influenza virus and other emerging viral diseases.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Leo Poon completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He then pursued his Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Hong Kong.
Career[edit | edit source]
After completing his Ph.D., Poon joined the University of Hong Kong as a faculty member. He is currently a professor in the School of Public Health. His research focuses on the molecular biology of influenza viruses and other emerging viral diseases.
Research[edit | edit source]
Poon's research has contributed significantly to the understanding of the genetics and pathogenesis of influenza viruses. He has also worked on the development of diagnostic tests for emerging viral diseases.
Recognition[edit | edit source]
Poon has received several awards for his research, including the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship.
