LLS was originally established as the "Robert Roesler de Villiers Foundation" in 1949 by Rudolph and Antoinette de Villiers after their son, Robert, died of leukemia. The foundation was renamed the Leukemia Society of America in 1960 and later became the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2000 to reflect its broader mission.

  • Providing education and support for patients and families
  • Advocating for policies that accelerate the development and approval of new treatments
  • Ensuring access to treatments for all blood cancer patients
