Limca was originally introduced by Parle Agro, an Indian company known for its range of beverages and snacks. The brand was created by Ramesh Chauhan, who is also credited with the creation of other popular Indian beverages such as Thums Up and Gold Spot. In 1993, Parle Agro sold Limca, along with Thums Up and Gold Spot, to The Coca-Cola Company.
