Coffee drinks are made by brewing coffee beans. The brewing process and the addition of various ingredients result in a wide variety of coffee drinks. Below is a list of some of the most popular coffee drinks.

Espresso-based drinks[edit | edit source]

  • Espresso: A concentrated coffee beverage brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water through finely-ground coffee beans.
  • Americano: A coffee drink prepared by diluting an espresso with hot water.
  • Cappuccino: A coffee drink consisting of equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam.
  • Latte: A coffee drink made with espresso and steamed milk, typically topped with a small amount of milk foam.
  • Macchiato: An espresso "stained" with a small amount of milk or milk foam.
  • Mocha: A chocolate-flavored variant of a latte, made with espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate syrup or cocoa powder.

Brewed coffee drinks[edit | edit source]

  • Drip coffee: Coffee made by dripping boiling water over ground coffee, typically using a filter.
  • French press: A method of brewing coffee by steeping coarsely ground coffee beans in hot water and then pressing the grounds out.
  • Cold brew: Coffee brewed with cold water over an extended period, usually 12-24 hours.
  • Turkish coffee: A method of brewing very finely ground coffee with water and sugar, often flavored with cardamom, and served unfiltered.

  • Irish coffee: A cocktail consisting of hot coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar, and topped with cream.

  • Flat white: A coffee drink consisting of espresso with a higher proportion of steamed milk and a thin layer of microfoam.

Iced coffee drinks[edit | edit source]

  • Iced coffee: Coffee served cold, typically brewed hot and then chilled, often served with ice.
  • Frappé: A Greek iced coffee drink made from instant coffee, water, sugar, and milk, shaken to create a frothy texture.
  • Iced latte: A cold coffee drink made with espresso and chilled milk, served over ice.
