Beef is the culinary name for meat from cattle, particularly skeletal muscle. Domestication of cattle occurred around 8000 BC, making it one of the earliest animals to be domesticated for agricultural purposes.
Chicken[edit | edit source]
Chicken as a meat has been depicted in Babylonian carvings from around 600 BC. The chicken was probably domesticated for its eggs from jungle fowl native to tropical and subtropical Southeast Asia and India before 7500 BC.
