History[edit | edit source]
The Lou Henry Hoover House was designed by the prominent architect Arthur B. Clark and completed in 1919. The house was commissioned by Herbert Hoover and his wife, Lou Henry Hoover, who were both alumni of Stanford University. The Hoovers lived in the house during the early years of their marriage and maintained it as their primary residence until Herbert Hoover's election as President in 1928.
Architecture[edit | edit source]

It features stucco walls, a red tile roof, and an open, airy floor plan. The design incorporates elements of both Spanish and Mediterranean architectural traditions, reflecting the Hoovers' appreciation for these styles.
