Manuel Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez (4 July 1917 – 29 August 1947), known professionally as Manolete, was a renowned Spanish bullfighter. He is considered one of the greatest matadors in the history of bullfighting.

Manolete was born in Córdoba, Spain, into a family with a strong bullfighting tradition. His father, also named Manuel Rodríguez, was a bullfighter known as "Manolete the Elder." Manolete began his training in bullfighting at a young age, showing exceptional talent and dedication.

Manolete's career took off in the late 1930s, and he quickly gained fame for his unique style and bravery in the bullring. He was known for his calm demeanor and his ability to stand very close to the bull during the fight, a technique that became his trademark. Manolete's style was characterized by his use of the muleta, a small red cape, to perform intricate and graceful passes.
