MedChemComm
MedChemComm was a peer-reviewed scientific journal covering all aspects of medicinal chemistry. It served as a forum for the discussion of research that is of primary interest to the medicinal chemistry community. The journal was established in 2010 and ceased publication in 2019, after which it was merged into the journal Chemical Science. MedChemComm was published by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
Scope[edit | edit source]
The journal focused on the chemical aspects of pharmacology, particularly the design, synthesis, and development of new pharmaceuticals. Topics of interest included, but were not limited to, drug discovery and design, chemical biology, bioorganic chemistry, molecular modeling, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. MedChemComm aimed to publish significant research findings that advance the field of medicinal chemistry.
Abstracting and Indexing[edit | edit source]
MedChemComm was abstracted and indexed in several major scientific databases, including Science Citation Index Expanded, Scopus, and Chemical Abstracts Service. The inclusion in these databases ensured that articles published in the journal were accessible to a wide audience of researchers and professionals.
Article Types[edit | edit source]
The journal published a variety of article types, including original research articles, review articles, and perspective pieces. These contributions were peer-reviewed to maintain high scientific standards and relevance to the field.
Editorial Policies[edit | edit source]
MedChemComm adhered to strict ethical guidelines in its publication process, ensuring that all research was conducted responsibly and ethically. The journal required that all experimental research on live animals or humans be approved by the appropriate ethics committees and that informed consent was obtained where necessary.
Closure[edit | edit source]
In 2019, the Royal Society of Chemistry announced the closure of MedChemComm as part of a strategic decision to streamline its portfolio of journals. The journal's scope and mission were integrated into Chemical Science, the RSC's flagship journal, to create a broader platform for the publication of high-quality research in chemistry.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Although MedChemComm is no longer in publication, its archives remain a valuable resource for researchers in the field of medicinal chemistry. The journal's contributions over its nearly a decade of operation have had a lasting impact on the development of new pharmaceuticals and therapeutic strategies.
