- Mendocino County is located on the north coast of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 87,841. The county seat is Ukiah. Mendocino County comprises the Ukiah, CA Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is located north of the San Francisco Bay Area and west of the Central Valley.
