Miss Universe
Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the United States-based Miss Universe Organization. It is one of the most watched pageants in the world with an estimated audience of over 500 million viewers in over 190 territories. The pageant was founded in 1952 by Pacific Knitting Mills, a California-based clothing company and manufacturer of Catalina Swimwear.

The first Miss Universe pageant was held in Long Beach, California in 1952. The winner of the inaugural pageant was Armi Kuusela from Finland. Over the years, the pageant has evolved and expanded, with contestants from around the world competing for the coveted title.
Competition Format[edit | edit source]
The Miss Universe competition consists of several rounds, including the preliminary competition, which features private interviews with the judges, and a presentation show where contestants compete in swimsuit, evening gown, and national costume categories. The main event includes the top 20, top 10, and top 5 segments, culminating in the final question and answer round.
Crowning and Duties[edit | edit source]
The winner of Miss Universe is crowned with a prestigious tiara and is given the responsibility of representing the Miss Universe Organization and its causes. The titleholder travels internationally to promote humanitarian efforts, attend events, and participate in media engagements.
