History[edit | edit source]

Grupo Modelo was founded in 1925 in Mexico City. It quickly grew to become one of the largest breweries in Mexico. The company expanded its operations and began exporting its products to other countries. In 2013, Grupo Modelo was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev, one of the largest brewing companies in the world.

Products[edit | edit source]

Grupo Modelo produces a variety of beers, including:

  • Corona: One of the best-selling beers worldwide, known for its light taste and often served with a lime wedge.
  • Modelo Especial: A rich, full-flavored pilsner-style lager.
  • Negra Modelo: A Munich-style dunkel lager with a rich, caramel flavor.
  • Victoria: A Vienna-style lager, one of the oldest beers produced by Grupo Modelo.

Production[edit | edit source]

The brewery has a production capacity of 60 million hectoliters per year. Grupo Modelo operates several breweries across Mexico, including facilities in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.

Distribution[edit | edit source]

Grupo Modelo's beers are distributed in over 180 countries. The company has a strong presence in the United States, where Corona is one of the top-selling imported beers.

Ownership[edit | edit source]

In 2013, Grupo Modelo was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev, a multinational beverage and brewing company headquartered in Leuven, Belgium. This acquisition allowed Grupo Modelo to expand its global reach and benefit from the resources and expertise of one of the largest brewing companies in the world.
