Monotrophic diet
Monotrophic diet (also known as Mono diet) is a type of fad diet that involves eating only one type of food (usually a type of fruit) for a certain period of time to achieve rapid weight loss. This diet is controversial and is generally not recommended by health professionals due to its lack of nutritional balance.
Overview[edit | edit source]
The monotrophic diet is based on the idea that eating only one type of food will simplify digestion and promote weight loss. The most popular version of this diet is the "banana diet", where the dieter eats only bananas for a certain period of time. Other versions involve eating only one type of fruit, such as grapes or apples.
Health risks[edit | edit source]
The monotrophic diet is not recommended by health professionals because it lacks nutritional balance. Eating only one type of food can lead to deficiencies in essential vitamins and minerals, and can also lead to other health problems such as malnutrition and eating disorders.
