Taxonomy[edit | edit source]
The phylum Negarnaviricota is divided into two subphyla, five classes, nine orders, 24 families, 86 genera, and 214 species.
Subphylum Haploviricotina[edit | edit source]
The subphylum Haploviricotina includes the classes Monjiviricetes and Ellioviricetes. These classes contain viruses that infect animals and plants.
Class Monjiviricetes[edit | edit source]
The class Monjiviricetes includes the orders Mononegavirales and Jingchuvirales. These orders contain viruses that infect vertebrates, invertebrates, and plants.
Order Mononegavirales[edit | edit source]
The order Mononegavirales includes the families Bornaviridae, Filoviridae, Mymonaviridae, Nyamiviridae, Paramyxoviridae, Pneumoviridae, and Sunviridae. These families contain viruses that cause various diseases in animals, including rabies, Ebola virus disease, and measles.
Order Jingchuvirales[edit | edit source]
The order Jingchuvirales includes the family Qinviridae. This family contains viruses that infect plants.
Class Ellioviricetes[edit | edit source]
The class Ellioviricetes includes the order Bunyavirales. This order contains viruses that infect vertebrates, invertebrates, and plants.
Order Bunyavirales[edit | edit source]
The order Bunyavirales includes the families Fimoviridae, Hantaviridae, Nairoviridae, Peribunyaviridae, Phasmaviridae, and Tospoviridae. These families contain viruses that cause various diseases in animals and plants, including hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, and tomato spotted wilt virus.
Subphylum Polyploviricotina[edit | edit source]
The subphylum Polyploviricotina includes the classes Chongviricetes, Kitrinoviricetes, and Yunchangviricetes. These classes contain viruses that infect fungi and protozoa.
