Northeast Health System

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Northeast Health System is a network of hospitals in the state of New York. It was formed by the merger of three upstate hospitals, Albany Memorial Hospital, St. Peter's Hospital, and Samaritan Hospital. The network later merged with other hospitals, resulting in a larger network that is twice the size of its competitor.

In 2009, Northeast Health System faced controversy when it agreed to pay $1.25 million to settle charges of sharing nursing wage information with other local hospitals to suppress wage increases. A follow-up case against other hospitals and health systems resulted in a settlement of $13.6 million.
