Ozaukee County, Wisconsin
Ozaukee County, Wisconsin is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,503. The county seat is Port Washington. Ozaukee County is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area.

Ozaukee County was created in 1853 from the northern part of Washington County. The name "Ozaukee" is derived from the Ojibwe name for the Sauk people.
Geography[edit | edit source]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,116 square miles (2,890 km²), of which 233 square miles (600 km²) is land and 883 square miles (2,290 km²) (79%) is water. The county is bordered by Lake Michigan to the east.

Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 census, there were 91,503 people, 35,239 households, and 25,259 families residing in the county. The population density was 392 people per square mile (151/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 92.5% White, 1.5% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 2.8% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, and 2.9% from two or more races. 3.5% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Ozaukee County is served by several school districts, including the Cedarburg School District, Grafton School District, and Mequon-Thiensville School District. Higher education institutions include Concordia University Wisconsin and Milwaukee Area Technical College's Mequon campus.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Major highways in Ozaukee County include Interstate 43, Wisconsin Highway 32, and Wisconsin Highway 57. The county is also served by the Ozaukee County Transit Services.
Parks and Recreation[edit | edit source]
Ozaukee County offers numerous parks and recreational facilities, including Harrington Beach State Park, Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve, and the Ozaukee Interurban Trail.
