Panadol night
Panadol Night is a specific formulation of the popular over-the-counter analgesic medication, Panadol. It is designed to relieve pain and promote sleep, and is typically used for conditions such as headache, muscle pain, arthritis, and fever.
Composition[edit | edit source]
Panadol Night contains two active ingredients: Paracetamol and Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride. Paracetamol is a common pain reliever and fever reducer, while Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride is an antihistamine that causes drowsiness and is often used to help with sleep.
Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]
Paracetamol works by reducing the production of prostaglandins in the brain and spinal cord. Prostaglandins are produced by the body in response to injury and certain diseases. They cause pain, swelling and fever. By reducing their production, paracetamol can relieve these symptoms.
Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, on the other hand, works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance produced by the body that causes symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Its sedative properties also help to promote sleep.
Usage and Dosage[edit | edit source]
Panadol Night should be taken orally, usually at bedtime, or as directed by a healthcare professional. The dosage is based on the patient's medical condition and response to treatment. It is important not to exceed the recommended dose or frequency of use without consulting a healthcare professional.
Side Effects[edit | edit source]
Common side effects of Panadol Night include drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth. If these effects persist or worsen, the patient should seek medical attention. Serious side effects are rare, but may include severe dizziness, difficulty urinating, or allergic reactions.
Precautions[edit | edit source]
Before taking Panadol Night, patients should inform their healthcare professional if they have any allergies, or if they have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, or certain types of glaucoma.
Interactions[edit | edit source]
Panadol Night may interact with other medications, including other over-the-counter drugs or prescription medications. It is important to keep a list of all the products you use and share it with your healthcare provider.
