Panagiotis Kouroumblis
Panagiotis Kouroumblis (Greek: Παναγιώτης Κουρουμπλής) is a Greek politician and lawyer. He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament and has served in various ministerial positions in the Greek government. Kouroumblis is known for his work in the fields of healthcare, social welfare, and public administration.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Panagiotis Kouroumblis was born on October 2, 1951, in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. He lost his sight at the age of 10 due to an accident involving a hand grenade left over from World War II. Despite this challenge, he pursued his education with determination. Kouroumblis graduated from the University of Athens with a degree in Law and later obtained a master's degree in Public Administration.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Kouroumblis began his political career as a member of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). He was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament in 1996. Over the years, he has held various positions within the government, including:
- Minister of Health (2015-2016)
- Minister of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction (2016-2018)
- Minister of Shipping and Island Policy (2018-2019)
During his tenure as Minister of Health, Kouroumblis focused on reforming the Greek healthcare system, improving access to medical services, and addressing the financial challenges faced by the sector.
Advocacy and Contributions[edit | edit source]
Kouroumblis is a strong advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. He has worked extensively to promote social inclusion and equal opportunities for all citizens. His efforts have been recognized both nationally and internationally.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Panagiotis Kouroumblis is married and has two children. He continues to be an active member of the Greek political scene and remains committed to public service.
